She is a Proverbs 31 woman.

In case nobody told you - you’re a princess. You are the daughter of the King, and he has called you to present yourself as such. God has equipped you with specials gifts and has laid out a road map to align yourself with his will for your life, so that you can fulfill your purpose. For women, there is a template found in Proverbs 31. The woman described in this proverb is considered to be a wife of noble character, and worth more than rubies. You can read the full chapter here. Everything we’ll be covering today is inspired by that passage and will help you become a Proverbs 31 woman.

Who is this woman, which is blessed by her children, and worthy to be praised by her husband? There is a common theme found in her; she is always in action. Let’s break up the word Proverbs for a second, just for fun. The definition of the word Pro means to be a master at something. And a verb, is used to describe an action. Therefore, for the sake of this blog, let’s define a Proverbs 31 women as a professional action taker. Highlighted below, are several actions that build a Proverbs 31 woman, and I have added practical ways you can apply it today, in your life.

She Brings – (Proverbs 31:11-12)

In this verse, it talks about helping your husband and bringing him good.

Application: You can enrich his life, with your loyalty and support. Bring him up, as opposed to bringing him down and causing him harm.

She Finds – (Proverbs 31:13-14)

The woman finds wool and flax to spin, which is used to create clothing, sewing thread, surgical thread, sanitary napkins, decorative fabrics, table wear, bed linen, wall coverings, dish towels, curtains, artist’s canvases, and so much more. She also finds food from afar in this verse.

Application: Find what you already have and make the most of it. Use it to maintain your home and the people inside of it. At times, you might feel like you don’t have enough, but if you open your eyes, you’ll find God has given you more than enough.

She Gets Up - (Proverbs 31:15)

This woman gets up before sunrise, to prepare breakfast for her household, and plans out the day’s work.

Application: Stop pressing the snooze button and start getting excited for the new day God has gifted you. God has amazing plans for your life, but if you keep tapping out before the day has even begun, you will sleep your way out of a divine appointment with God. One thing you can do is plan your day, the night before. This will help you get excited for tomorrow, and help you get up knowing you have a plan.

She Goes - (Proverbs 31:16)

Here we see her inspect a field and buy it. She then uses her earnings, to plant a vineyard.

Application: I love this verse very much, as it implies that this woman earns her own money. Oh yeah!! It also shows that she manages her money well and allocates it to invest and create prosperity. But you see, her first action step is “to go”. Listen, I’m an introvert, and if I can Ferris Bueller my way out of events and gatherings, I would do it every single time. However, as much as I’m a homebody, I also know that if you don’t GO and put yourself out there, you can’t expect God to do miraculous things for you, while you sit at home watching Netflix and mindlessly scroll your life away on social media. Did that sting a lil’? Good - I needed that word too.

She Makes - (Proverbs 31:18, 22-24)

Home girl is over there making sure her dealings are profitable. The girl makes her own bedspreads and garments to sell to the merchants. In other words, she is showing up, dressed in her best I might add (Proverbs 31:22), and creating this amazing life with her own hands.

Application: If you’re waiting for perfection to start making things happen, for the love of everything - stop. Stop waiting. Create a plan and make it happen with the skills you have already been gifted with. And for those of you struggling with sleepless nights, I encourage you to use that time to put down your phone and write. Write out your ideas, your prayers, things that are bothering you, and things you’re grateful for. Use that time to make things happen like the woman in this proverb, instead of falling down IG rabbit holes.

She Extends a Helping Hand - (Proverbs 31:20)

She is a woman who helps the poor and those in need.

Application: Would you agree that we are all struggling in our own way? A helping hand to another in need, is God’s way of using you to bless others. A lot of times, it’s the little gestures that can make a huge impact in someone’s life. In return, you will receive much joy in your heart, by helping and making a difference.

She Laughs - (Proverbs 31:25)

This woman is laughing it up without a care in the world about her future, because she is clothed with dignity and strength.

Application: Everything is temporary. Therefore, don’t worry about what might or might not happen. Be like Will Farrell in the Elf and make smiling your favorite – your feelings will catch up. Pray to God, and he will give you the strength and the self-esteem you need to move forward.

She Gives - (Proverbs 31:26)

She gives her time to speak wise words and gives instructions with kindness.

Application: To be honest, this one is the hardest for me, because after repeating instructions to my children for the fifth time, it’s difficult to give it again with kindness. So, what do you do when you can’t respond with kindness? Ahh… I’m glad we’re thinking the same, because the most important step you must take to become a kind proverbs 31 woman, is to acknowledge that you’re not perfect - but Jesus is. In order to be this kind giver, you must first give your life to Jesus.

You see, a virtuous and capable woman, lets Jesus steer the boat. That means, becoming less of who you are, and becoming more of who Jesus is. Apart from Jesus, there is no possible way you can be this strong, energetic, hard-working woman, whose lamp burns late into the night. The enemy will trick you with counterfeit comfort, and convince you to not do what you should, and lure you into any direction that is NOT God’s will for your life. It’s easy to become lazy and take the cheap version of life the enemy offers. Yet, if you obey the word of God and follow Jesus daily, you’ll be able to experience fulfillment and live out God’s purpose for your life.

This world can be so darn charming and beautiful at times, but it all fades away! The only thing that will remain is God’s word. The thought of aging could put almost anyone in a melancholy mood. However, remember that the relationship you maintain with God, is the only thing of substance and great value – Not your looks.

Proverbs 31:30 – “Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.”

May this blog post bring you peace and encourage you to dive into the word of God for direction.

With all my Love,
